Frederica Constable, chief growth officer at Omnicom Media UK

Omnicom Media UK has named Frederica Constable chief growth officer, giving her responsibility for growth across the group and its agency brands.

  • Group: Omnicom Media UK
  • Arrives via Omnicom’s acquisition of Mediabrands
  • Previously head of new business EMEA at Mediabrands, and before that at Initiative
  • Career start: media executive at MediaCom in 2010
  • Earlier: PHD UK, M.i. Media for just over seven years, Assembly Global

The Career Frederica Constable Built To Get Here

She started as a media executive at MediaCom in 2010 and worked up through planner buyer, senior planner buyer and media manager, then a short spell at PHD UK. At M.i. Media she spent just over seven years, rising from account director to business director.

That is a conventional agency ladder, and on its own it leads to a client-servicing job rather than this one. The turn came at Assembly Global, where she moved to client director for new business, and then properly at Initiative in 2024 as head of new business EMEA.

Why Growth Roles Go To Pitch People

When IPG Mediabrands folded Initiative’s new business function into its wider structure, Constable moved up to head of new business EMEA for Mediabrands itself, a remit that puts a person in front of the largest pitch processes in European advertising.

Media agency growth is won and lost in formal pitches, and the skill is procedural as much as creative: knowing which pitches to enter, how to resource them and when to walk away. Agencies promote the people who have run that process at scale, because the alternative is learning it on a live review.

The Timing Is The Acquisition

She reaches the role having transitioned into Omnicom Media Global’s growth team after the acquisition, at a moment when the London operation has just absorbed a wave of talent from Mediabrands.

An acquisition is when a group is most vulnerable on growth. Clients use the uncertainty to review, competitors use it to pitch, and the acquiring group has two new business functions where it needs one. Putting someone from the acquired side in the top growth job is a signal to that half of the building as much as to the market.
