A protein scoop and a running shoe, as halftone cutouts, for Foodstrong naming Sara Ali Khan its brand ambassador

Foodstrong has signed actor Sara Ali Khan as its brand ambassador. The health food and nutrition brand is aiming protein at everyday eaters, and at women in particular, rather than at the gym-goers the category was built around.

  • Brand: Foodstrong, built on the line Good Made Easy
  • Signed: actor Sara Ali Khan, across upcoming campaigns, digital platforms and new-product initiatives
  • Range: protein powders, ready-to-drink shakes, hydration, afternoon snacks and everyday food formats
  • Market size cited: India's protein-based products market estimated at around ₹44,000 crore in 2025, projected by industry estimates to more than triple over the coming decade
  • The segment named: everyday athletes, meaning people who run, lift, walk, do yoga or Pilates or play a sport without calling themselves athletes
  • Stated gap: a sports-nutrition industry historically built and communicated for men

Why Foodstrong Is Not Casting An Athlete

Because an athlete endorses performance, and performance is the part of this category that is already saturated. The brief here is permission rather than aspiration: making protein feel like something to put in a coffee or an afternoon snack, not something earned in a gym.

That is a harder signing than it looks. The usual celebrity shortcut in nutrition is visible discipline, and a brand arguing against perfection has to find someone the audience reads as consistent rather than extreme.

Where The Category Is Actually Moving

Into the format aisle. If protein stops being a tub and becomes a shake, a snack or a beverage, then the competitive set stops being other supplement brands and becomes breakfast, packaged beverages and convenience food, which is a far larger shelf and a far more expensive fight.

The ₹44,000 crore figure is the pitch, but the strategic claim underneath it is about who the buyer is. Serving women in a category whose packaging, language and media have been built for men is a positioning gap rather than a product one.

What Was Said

Karishma Bhalla, founder of Foodstrong, said protein is becoming much bigger than protein powder and much bigger than the gym, and that people need better products and clearer information rather than more wellness noise. On the signing, Bhalla said Sara Ali Khan represents a modern relationship with health, disciplined and active but real about living a full life. Khan said being healthy is not about being perfect but about finding a balance and being consistent with it.
