What Ashutosh Saxena Inherits
Turtle Wax has been expanding its Car Care Studio network in India, strengthening retail partnerships and launching products aimed at changing consumer needs. The remit is to carry that into ASEAN alongside India.
Those are not the same market wearing different flags. Car ownership in India still skews towards a first car kept for a long time and maintained at a local garage. Several ASEAN markets have older, denser vehicle populations and a far more developed independent aftermarket.
Why The Castrol Background Fits
Car care is not really a consumer products business. It is a distribution business that happens to sell to consumers, and the thing that decides it is whether the product is in the garage when the car is on the ramp.
Castrol Auto Service was an attempt at exactly that problem, building branded service presence in the aftermarket rather than selling lubricant into a shelf. Someone who has run that play once is being asked to run a version of it again.
The Rest Of The Record
The career at Castrol began in 2008 as a management trainee and moved through several roles, covering business development, customer engagement, brand management and commercial strategy.
