Sharan Mehta Named Group President And Chief Strategy Officer At Samtel Avionics

Samtel Avionics has appointed Sharan Mehta as group president and chief strategy officer, effective 12 October 2026.
- Company: Samtel Avionics Limited
- Role: Group president and chief strategy officer
- Effective: 12 October 2026
- Previously: Strategy and growth, Raymond Group engineering business
What Sharan Mehta Has Been Hired To Do
Strengthen competitive positioning, drive operational excellence and find new avenues for sustainable growth, in the company's description. In a business built on mission-critical technologies, that reads as a brief to turn engineering capability into order books across more than one sector at a time.
There is a second seat attached. Mehta will contribute to the Samtel Strategic Advisory Council alongside Puneet Kaura, Akhil Gupta, AVM Pawan Kumar and the group chief financial officer, a body the company says is focused on strategic direction and growth in emerging areas.
The Record
Most recently the Raymond Group's engineering business, leading strategy and growth across portfolio companies including JK Maini Global Aerospace and JK Maini Precision Technology. The company's account of that tenure is specific: an aerospace business taken from an emerging operation to the group's growth engine, scaling nearly tenfold, with two engineering entities integrated along the way.
The scale figures are the company's own. A portfolio exceeding US$225 million under management, and strategic partnerships established with GE Aerospace, Pratt and Whitney, Rolls-Royce, Honeywell, Wabtec, Stellantis and Lockheed Martin across North America and Europe.
Where The Growth Is Expected To Come From
Mehta pointed at three areas on joining, describing significant opportunity ahead across defence, railways and emerging domains, and calling the company's foundation in mission-critical technologies a strong one.
Puneet Kaura, managing director and chief executive, described the appointment in terms of execution rather than vision: a blend of strategic thinking and hands-on delivery, with a record of scaling businesses and building global partnerships, and leadership that the company expects to sharpen focus and convert ambitions into measurable results.
