What Rohan Lobo Will Actually Be Doing
Working with boards and executive teams on the decisions that sit above any single project: capital allocation, portfolio strategy, capability investments and transformation priorities. The point of an industry leader role at a firm this size is to stop those conversations being handled service line by service line, so his mandate pulls together strategy, corporate finance, tax, risk and cyber, data and AI, technology and workforce transformation under one view of the sector.
His client history is unusually wide for the region. He has advised across India, the Middle East, Africa, Southeast Asia, Australia and the United States, with sector experience spanning telecom, technology, manufacturing and government. That last one matters more than it looks: policy and regulation now shape technology and telecom economics in India as directly as any commercial variable.
Why The Global Capability Centre Track Record Counts
Before this he led Deloitte South Asia's global capability centre practice, building the firm's presence across the full lifecycle of a centre, from setup and scaling through to performance improvement and co-delivery. India's GCC boom has been one of the few genuinely structural stories in the services economy, and the people who ran it well now carry credibility with exactly the multinational boards Deloitte wants in the room.
The appointment lands as technology, media and telecom businesses work through simultaneous shifts in AI, digital infrastructure, capital allocation and workforce models. Those are not four separate problems for most boards, which is the argument for putting them under a single leader rather than four. More appointments.
