Sony Pictures Television Hires Lauren Glaubach To Lead Digital Distribution

Sony Pictures Television has hired Lauren Glaubach as executive vice president of distribution, digital and social platforms, in a newly created role.
- Company: Sony Pictures Television
- Role: EVP, distribution, digital and social platforms, newly created
- Previously: VP and head of global content partnerships, Pinterest
- Reports to: Jason Spivak and Paul Littmann
What Lauren Glaubach Has Been Hired To Do
Put a library somewhere people already are. The brief is to lead expansion across YouTube and other digital platforms, and the company describes it as unlocking opportunities for the film and television library and maximising the value of its intellectual property.
Recent moves show the shape of that: a second volume of a Jeopardy YouTube edition, Reading Rainbow launched on YouTube, and a partnership with particle physicist Brian Cox to develop original content for digital audiences.
Why The Record Fits
Because it sits on both sides of the table. More than a decade at YouTube in strategy, programming, partnerships and operations, most recently as director and global head of kids and family content partnerships, managing a portfolio of more than 500 channels spanning traditional media and platform-native creators.
Pinterest followed, leading global content partnerships across its producer network and creator communities. Earlier roles at Disney and the e-commerce marketplace BloomSpot add brand management to platform experience, which is a rare pairing for a job that sits where content owners meet distribution.
What A Newly Created Role Says
That the work was not being done, or not coherently. Jason Spivak and Paul Littmann, presidents of distribution and networks, said Glaubach has spent a career at the intersection of content, platforms and audiences with a record of building digital businesses.
Glaubach described the opportunity as extending the reach of stories and franchises audiences already love, and developing digital experiences that meet audiences where they are. For a studio with deep catalogue and competition from platforms that were once only distribution, that is the whole argument.
