McCann Worldgroup India has appointed Sumeer Mathur as its new Chief Strategy Director, bringing a fresh wave of leadership to the agency’s strategic planning function. He will officially step into the role by the end of April 2025.
A Proven Strategic Mind Joins the McCann Fold
Before joining McCann, Sumeer Mathur served as Chief Strategy Officer at Dentsu Creative, where he played a key role in transforming the agency’s approach to integrated brand-building.
At Dentsu, he helped launch the company’s first full-scale strategy department. His work focused on blending creativity, culture, data, and technology to deliver business growth through what he called “Modern Creativity.”
Reshaping Strategy with a Cluster-Based Model
This appointment comes as part of McCann’s strategic restructuring, which introduces a new cluster-led planning system. The new structure will divide operations by geography, with each cluster managed by national planning heads. These leaders will be responsible for both regional growth and key client relationships.
According to Prasoon Joshi, this shift aims to deliver more focused strategic guidance and foster deeper collaboration across teams and markets.
“This structure allows us to tap into specialised insight while staying responsive to local context,” Joshi said. “It strengthens how we serve clients—strategically, creatively, and culturally.”
Mathur on His New Role and Vision
Sharing his excitement, Sumeer Mathur said:
“I’m thrilled to join McCann Worldgroup, a name that has shaped iconic brands and continues to define creative effectiveness. I look forward to working with Prasoon Joshi, a leader I’ve long admired for his creative vision.”
“At a time when attention is limited and platforms are multiplying, we must create culture-first strategies that give brands a clear edge. McCann has a legacy of building real impact—and I’m excited to help take that forward.”
Driving Strategy That Moves Culture
With this new leadership, McCann Worldgroup India is sharpening its focus on strategic excellence rooted in creativity, consumer truth, and market agility. The move reinforces the agency’s commitment to building relevant, culturally resonant campaigns that drive long-term brand value.
