Hindustan Unilever (HUL) has announced its financial results for the quarter ending March 31, 2025. The company’s advertising and promotion expenses for the quarter stood at ₹1,510 crore, marking a 6.6% drop compared to ₹1,616 crore in the same period last year.

However, on a quarter-on-quarter basis, ad spends showed a marginal rise of 0.3%, inching up from ₹1,507 crore in Q3 FY25. Despite the annual dip, the company appears to be maintaining its media presence with steady investments.

Full-Year Ad Spends and Profit Insights

For the full financial year, HUL’s advertising expenses amounted to ₹6,199 crore. This reflects a slight decline of 4.5% from ₹6,489 crore reported in the previous fiscal year, suggesting a calibrated approach towards media investments amid evolving market conditions.

In terms of bottom line, HUL reported a net profit of ₹2,475 crore for Q4, down 3.4% from ₹2,561 crore in the preceding quarter. Meanwhile, revenue from operations increased to ₹15,670 crore, up from ₹15,210 crore in Q3 FY25, indicating moderate growth in top-line performance.

CEO Commentary on Growth and Outlook

Rohit Jawa, CEO and Managing Director of HUL, provided an optimistic view for the future.

“In FY’25, our turnover crossed ₹60,000 crore, with Underlying Sales Growth of 2% and EPS growth of 5%. Volume grew in mid-single digits, though impacted slightly by a negative mix.”

He highlighted strategic moves made by the company during the year, including:

  • Accelerated innovation in high-growth categories

  • Amplified investments in emerging retail channels

  • Acquisition of Minimalist and divestment of Pureit

  • The planned demerger of the Ice Cream business

“We expect demand conditions to gradually improve in the coming fiscal year. Backed by strong business fundamentals, our strategic focus is to unlock a billion aspirations and continue winning competitively.”
